今回はついにネタが切れましたので、３ワードでよく聞く表現をご紹介。４，５，６と増やしていく戦略でページ増。

Speaking of Which / そういえば

speaking of ...で〜について言えば、という意味なのは有名ですが、ドラマの中だとあまり具体的に指摘することは多くないです。その代わりに、whichで前段の会話全体を受けて、「そうそう、そう言えば」という使い方がわりかし多い。日本語でも、”そういえば”なんて毎日使っていますもんね。そう言えばの”そう”を他の単語で具体的に指摘するのはあまりしません。この辺は、英語も同じなんだと思います。

次は『ギルモア・ガールズ』シーズン１ エピソード１から。前提となる状況は、Lorelaiはローリーと暮らすシングルマザー。しかし、ローリーが進学校に通うため両親のリチャードとエミリーに資金援助をお願いします。承諾の代わりに週一で夕食を共にするという約束をさせられたLorelaiは、嫌々ながら初回のディナーに臨んだのが今回のシーン。食事中に元旦那のクリストファーの話題が藪から棒に出て気まずくなったLorelai、speaking of whichで何故旦那の話になったのかに疑問を投げかけ、speaking of whichでコーラーを取りに台所に退散です。確かに、リチャードの最初のspeaking of which、Lorelaiの仕事の話からの元旦那クリストファーへの話の転換は、いきなり感がありますね。

ロ：So, Grandpa, how's the insurance biz?
リ：People die, we pay.
　　People crash cars, we pay.
　　People lose a foot, we pay.
Lo：At least you have your new slogan.
リ：How are things at the motel?
Lo：The inn? They're great.
エ：Lorelai's the executive manager now.
　　Isn't that wonderful?
リ：Speaking of which, Christopher called yesterday.
Lo：Speaking of which?
　　How is that a speaking of which?
リ：He's doing very well in California.
　　His internet start-up goes public next month.
　　This could mean big things for him.
　　Very talented man, your father.
Lo：She knows.
リ：He always was a smart one, that boy.
　　You must take after him.
Lo：Speaking of which, I'm going to get a Coke. Or a knife.

Gilmore Girls シーズン１ エピソード１

End of Story. / 以上。

もうコレ以上、話に付け足すことがない時の決まり文句。暗に、これ以上何も言うな、言われたことをやれ、的な強制性がありますね。同様の決まり文句に、Period.というのもあります。 

次も『ギルモア・ガールズ』シーズン１ エピソード１から。好きな男の子ができたローリーは進学校のチルトンへの転校が嫌になってしまいました。内心、新しい環境への不安など色々なことが去就したのでしょうね。しかし、母親のローレライは、ローリーに自分が成せなかった学業をなんとか修めて欲しいがため、説得しようとしているのがこの場面。普段は友達のように仲の良い二人ですが、ローリーのあまりの頑固さに、ローレライはついには母親カードを出し、End of story.です。

Lo：Listen, can we just start all over, okay?
　　You tell me all about the guy, and I promise not to let my head explode.
　　Rory, please talk to me.
　　Okay, I'll talk.
　　Don't get me wrong, guys are great.
　　I am a huge fan of guys.
　　You don't get knocked up at 16 being indifferent to guys.
　　Babe, guys are always gonna be there.
　　This school isn't.
　　It's more important.
　　It has to be more important.
ロ：I'm going to sleep.
Lo：Rory. You've always been the sensible one in this house.
　　I need you to remember that feeling now.
　　You will kick your own butt later if you blow this.
ロ：Well, it's my butt.
Lo：Good comeback.
ロ：Thank you.
Lo：You're welcome. Rory, come on.
ロ：I don't want to talk about this.
　　Could you please please just leave me alone?
Lo：Okay. Fine.
　　We've always had a democracy in this house.
　　We never did anything unless we both agreed.
　　But now I guess I'm gonna have to play the mom card.
　　You are going to Chilton whether you want to or not.
　　Monday morning, you will be there.

Mum's the word. / 他言は無用。内緒。

mumには無言、だまっているという意味がありますから、今言ったこと（the word）は内密ということですね。

次は『ブレイキング・バッド』シーズン３ エピソード３より。ウォルターが自分ちの屋根にピザを投げたシーンを記憶している方もいるかと思いますが、この場面ではスカイから言われたウォルターがそれを取り除いているのところに、マイクが遠くからウォルターを監視しつつ電話で何やら話しています。実はウォルターはメヒコの組織の極悪二人兄弟に命を狙われているのですが、知っているのはマイクとガス側のみ。ソウルにも内密という意味でここでは使われていますね。 

マ：He's still breathing.
　　Well, by the looks of him, he has no idea how close he came.
　　I'm assuming Saul Goodman doesn't need to know.
　　Mum's the word.

Breaking Bad シーズン３ エピソード３

次も、記憶に残っているシーンの一つ。

『ビッグバン★セオリー』シーズン４ エピソード２０で、シェルドンとエイミーはハワードとバーナデットの別れる云々のゴシップから、Meme理論の実験を自分たちのソーシャルネットワークで行うことにします。ペニーに妊娠したことを話して帰途につくエイミー。帰りの階段でレナードに会いましたが、もう噂は広まっていましたとさ。他言は無用なんて広めて下さいと言ってるようなもんですね。

ペ：Oh, hey, Amy.
　　Bernadette just texted me.
　　Howard proposed?
エ：Yes, not important.
　　Just stopped by to let you know I'm getting orthotics.
　　Also, I'm carrying Sheldon's baby.
　　Mum's the word.


レ：You're pregnant?!
エ：Wow. Is there anything on there about orthotics?
