Hey, Dudeであるある

完全にネタ切れですが、Dudeは頻繁に聞く機会の多い単語。意味は、おまえ・やつ、ですね。同様の言い方にmanもあります。映画・ドラマではお馴染みです。下記のNow I Knowに最近この単語の出処が判明したという記事がありましたので、今回はDudeしている会話を拾ってみましょう。

次は、『ブレイキング・バッド』から。

キャンピングカーでウォルター抜きでメス作りを再び始めるジェシー。仲間のバジャーを呼んで二人で始めますが、バジャーはキャンピングカーのドアの穴が気になるのでした。その質問をする前にHey dude。ジェシーはウォルターから習った器具の説明を得意げにしています（笑）basic chemistry, yo!

バ：Hey, dude.
　　Are these bullet holes?
ジ：Uh...
　　No, man. Those are for, like, you know, uh, ventilation.
バ：Cool.
　　Ooh. Nice setup, huh?
ジ：Man.
　　This is nothing, man.
　　I used to have, like, twice as much glassware, until my dumb-ass ex-partner drove us into a ditch and wrecked most of it.
バ：Big-ass beaker, huh?
ジ：Hey, wait, wait, no, that's...
　　Yeah, that's a boiling flask.
　　This is a beaker.
　　Here's a Griffin beaker.
　　Here's a volumetric beaker.
　　Here's an Erlenmeyer flask.
バ：Um, you got...
　　Wow. You really know your shit.
ジ：It's just basic chemistry, yo.

Breaking Bad シーズン１ エピソード５

 次は『メンタリスト』シーズン１ エピソード１２の冒頭から。子供が失踪したとのことでCBIのメンバーが付近で聞き込みしているところです。シェーンはお馴染みの心理トリックで近所の子供の気を引くことに成功。会話をスタートします。

子：Hey, dude.
シ：Nice bike.
　　You boys gotta be pretty anxious to see something to ride this, huh?
　　You didn't ride a pink bike through town to come to the store, did you?
　　What'd you come to see?
子：Nothing.
シ：Really?
子：Let's go, Clyde.
シ：Where's Cody Elkins?
子：I don't know.
シ：I know you guys know where he is.
　　You don't have to tell me out loud.
　　Just look in the direction. That way?
子：Why did you do that?
シ：Thank you. Here's your bike.
　　Be safe.
