掲示板redditを眺めていたら面白いスレがあったので紹介。その名も「Ivanka Trump is Just as Corrupt as Her Father」。トランプ大統領の娘さんのイヴァンカも腐敗・汚職してるというんですね。

さて、この記事に対して、redditのユーザーが一斉にあることわざを引用し始めます。それが表題の「蛙の子は蛙」。英語だと、スレからコメントを引用すると

日本語にすると、りんごはりんごの木から遠くには落ちない。つまり、子（the apple）は親（the tree）と大体同じ場所に留まるってことですね。これがオリジナルのことわざですが、当然ネットユーザーたちは言葉遊びを始めます

ふたりともrotten（腐ってる）というわけ

shitを付けて卑しい響きに。既にUrban Dictionaryに載ってます。 Urban Dictionary: Shit Apple

shit appleじゃなくてshit（糞）そのものにします。イヴァンカ＝shitと言ってるんですね

他に、turd（糞、糞ったれ）を使ったのもありました

assholeは尻の穴以外に馬鹿者の意味がありますから、トランプ＝asshole、イヴァンカ＝turdと言ってるんですね。ここは動詞がfallなので、尻の穴から落ちる糞というビジュアルな意味にもなっています。

結局、イヴァンカはshitな環境で育ったんだから、なるべくしてなったと。

他にも、orangeがトランプ大統領のニックネームであることから、

The orange doesn't fall far from the tree.

と、appleではなくorangeにするパターン

The apple doesn't fall far from the orange.

と、親がトランプ大統領なので、木の方をorangeにするのもありました。これなんかは、イディオムapples and oranges（全く別のもの）を下手に知っていると「鳶が鷹を生む」的に響きますが、トランプ大統領＝orangeってだけですね（笑）

以上、今回はredditのスレ でことわざ「The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree（蛙の子は蛙）」を見てみました。それにしても、ネットユーザーは改変大好き過ぎますよね（笑）　自分だったらどう変えるかな？　TreeをTrump Towerにくらいは思いつきますが・・・。
